ClioSoft Gives Cadence Users ``Freedom to Choose'' With Global Design Team Collaboration Software
FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 18, 2001--ClioSoft, Inc.,
an early visionary in empowering global design team collaboration,
today announced the release of SOS viaDFII for design and data
management, global team connectivity and design and methodology
re-use among Cadence customers.
ClioSoft's design data management product, SOS, improves a design
team's productivity by non-intrusively managing design data and
enhancing designer-to-designer and designer-to-manager communication.
By using SOS, design team leaders can track progress and tape-out
designs with lower overhead and more confidence. Managers can unify
multi-site development projects, access design histories, record
metrics, and leverage optimized designs and design methodologies
enterprise-wide.
``ClioSoft's SOS has supported Cadence users since release in 1998,
and we are delighted to take the relationship with Cadence to another
level. Cadence is the vendor of choice for thousands of companies
worldwide, with 2000 revenues of $1.3 billion. Many of these companies
have design teams spread across multiple sites and wide geographies.
In addition, many of these users are integrating multi-tool
environments with more than 10 different software product vendors. SOS
unifies both Cadence and heterogeneous design environments
out-of-the-box and with low ownership costs,'' noted Srinath
Anantharaman, president of ClioSoft.
Unparalleled Integration through Cadence GDM
Designers have been requesting the freedom to choose the powerful
yet affordable SOS global engineering data management solution, so
ClioSoft partnered with Cadence to integrate its design tool suite
from front-end to back-end through the Cadence Design Framework, DFII.
Cadence has licensed ClioSoft to integrate SOS through its
proprietary GDM interface, and ClioSoft has developed the SOS viaDFII
software based on this support and license. This promotes even tighter
integration than previously existed through the Cadence Connection
partnership.
SOS has a low cost of ownership, due to the ease of initial
deployment and use, the very low support overhead, and attractive
price points for both per-copy and multi-site enterprise licensing.
SOS and SOS viaDFII support both Cadence tools and multi-vendor
design environments, including tools from Avant!, Innoveda, Mentor
Graphics, Synopsys and other EDA vendors.
Steve Remme, Senior Design Engineer at Storage Tek, commented, ``We
evaluated several options before we selected ClioSoft's SOS. The SOS
user interface was the most intuitive, allowed for customization,
eliminated several cryptic command line scripts and makes it easier
for us to manage our design databases, more than 2000 files, for each
of our different card types. ClioSoft's SOS is being used in the same
design environment as tools from Mentor, Synopsys and Cadence.''
Design Team Freedom and Productivity
Design data management is on the critical path to tape-out. For
engineering management, SOS viaDFII provides team collaboration for
global and multi-site environments; design methodology streamlining
and leverage; IP and design re-use; project visibility, management,
tracking and control; and the ability to collect empirical design
metrics. All of these benefits lead to better time to market and
project predictability.
For design engineering teams, SOS has features such as remote
collaboration support and design directory rollbacks; release
management; project and revision control; integrated bug tracking;
secure design data; and unobtrusive ease of use and administration.
SOS was developed specifically with hardware design teams in mind,
since they typically have the largest number of tools and highest
complexity of design flow, but it also can be used by software
designers, to integrate the project team.
ClioSoft's customers range from semiconductor companies in Silicon
Valley to telecommunications companies in Europe. Among the many
accounts adopting global design team collaboration with ClioSoft are:
Alcatel, Calix, Centillium Communications, Denali, Divio, Lexar Media,
Logitech, Lucent technologies, Mitel, NEC, Nortel Networks, Oak
Technology, Parthus, Storage Tek, Tenor Networks, Thomson Consumer
Electronics and Virata.
Pricing and Availability
SOS viaDFII is available now for Beta, and will be displayed at
the ClioSoft booth (no. 641) at the Design Automation Conference 2001,
in Las Vegas. SOS core software carries a U.S. list price of $2,500
per seat, with a complete SOS viaDFII solution at $4,500 per seat.
Corporate enterprise licensing is available. It supports Solaris,
HP-UX, Linux, and Windows. For information on international pricing,
